Quill does not collect or store any personal data. By default, all document processing happens on your device. Premium subscribers may optionally use cloud AI, which sends queries to third-party AI providers.

Overview

Artizan ("we", "our", or "us") built Quill as a document assistant application. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding data collection and privacy for Quill.

On-Device Processing

By default, Quill uses on-device AI models to analyze your documents and answer questions. All processing happens locally on your device.

Cloud AI (Premium Feature)

With a premium subscription, you may choose to use cloud-based AI services for enhanced responses. When using cloud AI:

Your questions and relevant document excerpts are sent to the cloud AI provider to generate responses
We do not store your queries or document content on our servers
Cloud AI processing is subject to the respective provider's privacy policy

Information Collection

We want to be completely transparent: Quill does not collect any data. Specifically:

We do not collect personal information
We do not collect usage data or analytics
We do not track your location
We do not access your contacts or other personal files
We do not use cookies or similar tracking technologies
We do not share any information with third parties
Your documents and conversations stay on your device

Device Permissions

Quill requests the following permissions for functionality purposes only:

Camera: Used to capture images of documents for text extraction (OCR). Images are processed locally and are not uploaded anywhere.
Microphone: Used for voice input when asking questions. Audio is processed on-device and is not recorded or transmitted.
Storage: Used to access documents you choose to import. We only access files you explicitly select.
Internet: Used only to validate subscription status. No document content or personal data is transmitted.

Document Storage

Documents you add to Quill are stored locally on your device. You can delete them at any time from within the app. We do not have access to your documents and cannot retrieve them.

Subscriptions

If you purchase a subscription, payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We receive only a confirmation of your subscription status and do not have access to your payment information.

Children's Privacy

Quill does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app is suitable for users of all ages.
